A Calming and Vintage Style Toddler Bedroom

A few months ago I realised that I needed to update Peggy’s room and make it a bit more toddler friendly, it was still set up for a baby but she’s almost two, eeeek. I’m so glad I put a bit of effort into Peggy’s room as it’s perfect for her now, all three of us love spending time in there!

The Inspiration

I wanted to create a slightly more grown-up space with touches of vintage style.

The first thing I knew I wanted to do was to sort out her book storage as the big basket we had was really difficult to keep tidy. I wanted to find a way to store her books so she could access them and also display the pretty books that she was a bit too old for. I spotted the Rackham Storage Tray from Great Little Trading Co. which is a great way for Peggy to choose her own books before bedtime, I also love that we can see all her books now.

Simon put up one of their Shaker Peg Rails above the bed which is a lovely way to display precious items. It’s also a fantastic place for me to style and take photos for my clients! Everything seems to look great on that shelf, especially with the oversized floral wallpaper from Livette’s Wallpaper.

I really enjoy having lots of opportunities to add style and personality to Peggy’s room so we also added some more bookshelves above the rocking chair. I can’t help but buy her lots of gorgeous books, kid’s books are so fun and I love using them as decor. I also keep her clothes that need to be hung up there as we didn’t have room for a wardrobe.

The photos above show her little reading and craft area. We move the Little Bo Peep Table around depending on which room we’re playing in and it gets used at least three times a day. I don’t know why I waited so long to get one for her. You can see that all her books are kept neat and easily accessible too, which is a great way for her to build up her independence. I always come into her room to see her reading which I love so much.

This last corner of her room hasn’t really changed much. I was planning on painting the walls green but once that beautiful wallpaper was up I thought it would all look too busy. I really love how her room has turned out as it’s so much more toddler friendly now. Everything is accessible to her and it also looks really pretty which is important to me. I want to say a huge thank you to the Great Little Trading Co. for giving Peggy those three storage solutions, the quality is really good and that little table, in particular, is always being used!

If you’re planning on updating your baby’s room to adjust with them as they grow I hope this post gives you some inspiration.
