A Little Update & Why Hire Me?
Well hello there! It’s been a long while since I’ve written anything on my blog. I’m going to get into the meat of the reasons why in this blog post, explain why I haven’t been able to blog and properly introduce myself as it’s been such a long time.
Hello, I’m Back
I’ve been blogging for well over a decade, back in the day I was one of those proper influencer types and I just fell out of love with it. But, I’m back, things are different and I’m going to begin sharing all sorts of things on this corner of the internet. I have a 3-year-old little girl so a lot of my time has been spent raising her, hobbies like blogging became harder to fit into my limited time but things have settled down a bit now and I’m so ready to come back!
This is a friendly space, hopefully over the next little while I’ll be writing some inspiring content and sharing lots of things that will benefit you. So what will I be blogging about? Well, photography, a bit of travel, interiors, some personal snippets of my life, and lots and lots of creative tips and advice. It’s going to be fun!
You can expect a lot of beautiful images and honest words. I can’t wait to get writing again. In my next post I’ll be sharing my recent trip to Whitby, what a gorgeous place, but for now I’d love to introduce myself and my photography brand to you.
All About Me & Why Hire me as your Photograper?
Firstly I want to say welcome to my blog and thank you for being here. A quick introduction if you don’t already know me. My name is Nancy Straughan (pronounced Strawn) I’m a proud Geordie, sadly without much of an accent, and after 10 years in London, I moved back up to the North East with my husband. I’m a product, branding, and interior photographer. I adore photography and styling, creating something magical, telling a story, and connecting people to an image - that’s my passion.
I feel so lucky every day that this is my job, it took a long time to find my passion and photography is absolutely it. I pick up my camera every single day, if I’m working or not, I just love taking photos.

Quick Fire Facts about my Photography
My work is soulful and timeless. I’m not really a person who follows trends, I love classic design and I’m a bit of an old soul.
My dad was a photographer and my mum was a stylist, I take after them both.
I’m an introvert, but a confident one. I love being an introvert. I’m sensitive, I’m an empath and I find people utterly fascinating. That might be why I love my branding shoots so much.
My home is a solace. My home reflects what’s important to me, history, beauty, family, peace. Interior design is another hobby of mine and it used to be my job so I always love doing home shoots for magazines.
I really care about my clients. Nothing about my work is fast paced, every single image is considered with my clients at the very forefront of my mind.
I know that beautiful images sell more products, get better press, and boost businesses no end. It’s all about creating a story, storytelling is hard and it happens (almost by magic) to be something I’m really really really good at.
I’m a proud mum. I understand what a juggle running a business can be whilst raising children. I love working with fellow female business owners and always admire mothers who run their own brands.
