Laura Ashley AW 2016 Press Show
On a very wet and gloomy Tuesday I made my way to the Laura Ashley AW 2016 press show. In a way I was quite glad the weather was acting in a typical English manner as it made the sneak peek at the Autumn and Winter collections even more enjoyable. Keep reading to find out what the Laura Ashley team have been cooking up.
I walked into the homeware rooms first and was greeted with six new and very diverse collections. The blue Modern Botanique range was my favorite collection as it included touches of Mid Century and Shaker styling, and you know how much I love 1960's interiors.

The other collections due to launch in August are the nature inspired Woodland Walk which featured lots of painterly textures, the Ambleside range also consists of hand painted motifs in calm blues and greens. On the other end of the spectrum the opulent Montague Feather and Baroque ranges offered up lots of velvet and silk textures in purple hues. The Copper Canvas collection reminded me of a Scottish lodge, all I needed was a hot chocolate and a good book and I would have happily sat there all day.

The Montague Feather range is inspired by boutique hotel styling. It looks as though the pineapple trend is here to stay too.
I loved the pale green wood-block style pattern in the Woodland Walk collection. That tartan rug is fabulous too.
Lastly the Copper Canvas collection with that wonderful velvet armchair, there are touches of warm toned marble and brass in this collection which I love.
Something new for Laura Ashley is the introduction of an Autumnal and Halloween range. That pumpkin dish though. Adorable.
I also got a chance to take a look at their Christmas ranges. I'm ashamed to say that I got pretty excited about all of the festive pieces, I really need to re-focus onto Summer.
I'm a huge advocate for a traditional Christmas and I thought that this tea towel was the cutest.
And now for the fashion pieces. I was so happy to see a lot of 1970's influences. The 70's is my favourite era, call me crazy but I love bell sleeves, maroon corduroys and avocado coloured bathroom suites. I really hope this trend sticks around into 2017.

The design team went back to the archives and took a lot of inspiration from the L.A designs of the 70's. Some pieces are direct copies which I think is so clever. I would give anything to have a day in the Laura Ashley archive room. There must be some absolute gems in there.
I loved something from every collection but my favorites were the Portrait of Laura range which was inspired by Laura's actual wardrobe from the 70's. I also loved Free Spirit and Welsh Blanket. In all the ranges I saw lots of embellished velvet, midi length dresses and Victoriana styling.
