Well, in a week I'll be a Mrs. Can't quite believe how fast the past year has gone by. At least after the legal wedding, I'll have the big Scottish wedding to look forward to (two weddings is definitely a good idea!). I'm currently finding that purchasing all the little supplies, gifts and decorative items for the wedding is the most exciting part of the whole planning process. Ok, that might be because most of the huge things are out of the way but I've been itching to get started on all the pretty bits.
Today I wanted to share my favourite online suppliers and stores filled with gorgeous wedding inspiration. Trust me, there's a lot of wonderful supplies for the entirety of your big day out there and it can be a little (a lot) overwhelming.
If you're looking for an easy way to shop for all your wedding stationery Papier is a lovely option. They have a huge selection of wonderful paper products so suit anyone's taste. They also have a range of non wedding related stationery if you need invites and cards for other occasions.
I've been incredibly lucky regarding my bridesmaid's dresses as my really close friend Angela is making them all bespoke outfits for the big day. If not for Angela I would have definitely taken them all to Rewritten as their classic dresses and separates are so pretty. Their pieces come in a range of colours and are a much nicer option than the multiway bridesmaid dresses that everyone seems to go for.
If you're looking for an uncomplicated personalised guest book take a look at Paper Bound Love. They have a lot of great options and some are very simple and unfussy. Personally, I'm really not a fan of alternative guest books, call me boring but I don't really want a people signing wooden hearts or luggage tags! I'd much rather have a classic book that won't date or look tacky in they years to come.
Brolly Bucket is an absolutely genius idea. You can rent high quality umbrellas in lots of different colours (perfect if you have a specific theme) and they come in lovely rattan or willow baskets. They also have a range of very pretty lace parasols too, which would look so pretty in your wedding photographs. We're having a marquee wedding in Scotland so these umbrellas would be perfect!
I've been taking a lot of design inspiration from Lilac & White for my table plan and place settings. So far I'm planning on designing my own table based stationary but I might opt for these guys if I get too stressed. They have beautiful classic signage and paper goods. I love their simple approach to design, its really refreshing and this style very unlikely to date over the years.
Simon finds it so hard to spot ties that he likes on the high street. I remember a few years ago it felt as though we had looked in every single shop on Oxford Street trying to find him a tie for a wedding. The selection at Beau Tie are lovely, some patterned and some plain, you're bound to find something that suits you.
For alternative gifts for your guests or wedding party take a look at Rustic Joy Soap. They have a selection of 100 mini organic soaps as wedding favours or you could pick a few full sized bars for your bridesmaids. You could even match the scent to your wedding flowers for an extra special touch.
The other day I went along to a local haberdashery to pick up 400m of green ribbon for my wedding! I'm planning on tying them to the backs of the chairs and possibly use them in the foliage garlands too. I would also like to buy some special ribbon for my bouquet to keep as a momento of the day. Lancaster & Cornish sell natural hand dyed silk ribbons and table linens which would be a perfect personal touch to the big day. I imagine that their ribbons would be something you would treasure forever.
If you're looking for some special sweet treats for your wedding take a look at Yolk Studio who make the most beautiful marshmallows and botanical biscuits. Everything they make looks so pretty and delicate, it would be a shame to eat them! Their lemon and thyme shortbread biscuits are so stunning and possibly to prettiest little baked goods I've seen!
I haven't really thought about how our rings will be looked after or presented but I love this simple idea from Print for Love of Wood. Honestly, there's a million things to consider during this wedding malarky! I like the subtle modern calligraphy lettering and the idea itself isn't too fussy, all you need is a pretty drawstring bag to house your rings. I'm not a fan of those super fancy ring pillows, why does a ring need a pillow anyway?
I'm a huge fan of the Art Deco period and these classic hair pins are just so pretty. There are so many options out there for bridal hair, its quite difficult to choose just one look! If you like simple and understated style I think Britten Weddings' selection of hair accessories are perfect. They also have a range of stunning veils and garters too, definitely worth a look.
Most wedding venues require that you use natural or biodegradable confetti at your wedding, which is a blessing really as real petals are so lovely to use. If you're looking for a good selection of dried flower confetti that doesn't cost the earth take a look at the Botanical Farmer (and his adorable flower beard!) I was very lucky as my mum and I managed to gather a lot of bright pink Bougainvillea in Turkey for the London wedding. But, if you don't have a house in a sub-tropical country like my mum, it's probably best to buy your own.
Agnes Hart makes the most gorgeous veils I've ever seen. If like me, you're looking for something romantic and timeless have a look at her lovely online shop. You can tell that Agnes worked as a costume designer before setting up her brand, her veils and headpieces are reminiscent of a bygone era and are slightly theatrical.
I have two pairs of Yawn pjs and I love them so much. They're so comfortable and roomy. When I'm getting ready for my big day I want to feel relaxed so it would be strange for me to wear a skimpy, lacey chemise. If like me, you want to feel comfortable rather than glamours take a look at Yawn, I think their Lovebird or House of Cards print would be particularly well suited to a wedding morning.
I'm waiting for the day when BHLND decides to open a store in the UK. I love their products so much, it's definitely worth paying for the US shipping costs. They stock a huge range of affordable and beautiful wedding dresses, bridesmaids outfits, accessories, underwear and wedding decor items, its very difficult to not to buy the whole shop. I haven't found a good UK based alternative yet either, so let me know if you have!
I love Terrain. They're technically a home and garden shop but they have an absolutely stunning selection of garlands, lighting and dried flowers which would be perfect for weddings. Their wreath selection alone is worth a look at, even if it's just to gather up some inspiration. A good alternative to Terrain is the shop Re Found Objects which is based near where I grew up in the North East.
Oh Squirrel is one of the only UK based brands that sell really beautiful and most importantly non tacky hen party supplies. They also make a range of homeware and stationery products but, in particular I love their pretty hen party sashes and bridesmaid thank you cards. These postcards have real pressed flowers encased inside, who could resist that?
